Stanchion Mount 01

Much the same as the second design except it's stanchion mounted instead to the deck.

Traditional, conventional, not complicated, no holes in the deck.

approximate dimensions
It looks like the entire tubing section will fit into the locker space with minimal disassembly in the side profile.

Radius shown on tubing should be larger.

Reference photo, stanchion mount.

Yellow = canvas and straps
Blue = stay (zipper to accommodate stay)
Red = zipper attachment to dodger
Green = tubing
The front of the bimini on this boat is attached to a rib that is attached to stays and the deck. Our proposal instead attaches to the existing dodger via a zipper.

This design refers mostly to the bimini on this boat found in the marina.
Important points.
  • Attach to the existing stanchion. No through holes.
  • Zipper for stay where it penetrates canvas.
  • Zipper where the bimini attaches to the dodger.
  • Straps.
Plan for 4 configurations
  • stationary
    • maximum sun and wind protection. Can use boom for attachment / stability.
  • motoring
    • high sun protection, compromise between wind comfort and bimini stability.  Can use boom for attachment?
  • light sailing
    • No attachment to boom possible. Shade dependent on moderate stability provided by straps and struts alone.
  • racing
    • Bimini is stored below. comes dismantles to fit into stowage provided below. See Image StoweX.

Stowage space available
  • Rear Cabin shelf
    • 54x30x190cm
  • Salon Shelf
    • 15x13x170cm
It appears the horizontal tubing will fit into either stowage shelf in 6 pieces, joined in the middle with a quick connect coupling. (See the 166cm dimension.)
