Version Sun Sail 08 notes: Stanchion pole size. Stanchion poles are larger. Can be steel or fiber. Fiber is recommended to provide some spring-tensioning but steel will last longer and provide some spring as well. (One must be aware that too much stress on the end of poles attached to the stanchions will stress the stanchion mount to the hull. This might be another reason to use fiber?) Boom Stabilization Stabilizer poles have been added to the boom. Ideally it would reduce swing of the boom from 10 inches to 1-2 inches +/-. I need to find out how important the stability of the boom is. It is conjecture on my part that it will make the shade flap around a lot in its current unstabilized state. A person with more sailing experience would be better able to answer this question. In my novice opinion, it is important.
